Account Deletion
Last updated: 4 October 2026
You can delete your Join do account at any time. This page explains how to do it, what happens next, which data is deleted and which data may remain, and why.
1. Deleting in the App
- Open the Join do app and sign in.
- Go to the Profile tab and tap the Settings (gear) icon.
- Select Account Settings → Freeze / Delete My Account.
- Choose a reason or write a short note.
- Tap Delete, then Yes in the confirmation window.
Your account enters the deletion process and you are signed out.
You can freeze your account instead. The Freeze option on the same screen hides your account from other users until you sign in again; your data is not deleted. Freezing also cancels upcoming events you created and removes you from events you joined.
2. Requesting Deletion by Email
If you can't access the app, email us:
- Email: support@joindo.app
- Subject: Account deletion request
- Include: the email address linked to your account and your username
Please write from the email address linked to your account if possible; we may ask for more information to verify your identity. We complete requests within 30 days at the latest and will let you know.
3. What Happens and When
Immediately
- Your profile is hidden from other users.
- Upcoming events you created (including those without a date yet) are cancelled and participants are notified.
- You are removed from upcoming events you joined; the organiser is notified and a notice is posted in the event chat.
- You are removed from event chats.
- Your notification settings are deleted and you stop receiving notifications.
- You are signed out.
First 7 days: grace period
Your data is kept during this time. If you sign in again with the same account, the deletion is cancelled and your account is restored. Cancelled events are not reopened.
After 7 days: permanent deletion
Your account is permanently deleted during the first overnight run after the grace period ends (7–8 days after your request). This cannot be undone. If you sign in with the same account afterwards, a new, empty account is created.
4. Data That Is Deleted
Permanent deletion removes:
- Your account and sign-in record
- Your profile: name, username, email, date of birth, gender, height and weight, bio, city and location, favourite sports, levels, availability
- Your profile and gallery photos and the images of your Highlights posts
- Your one-to-one chats and the messages in them (removed from both people's chat lists)
- Your friendships and friend requests (including messages attached to requests)
- Your event participation, attendance records and event invitations
- Your group memberships, group invitations and join requests
- Your Match requests (including the location used in the request) and match records
- Partner reviews you wrote and reviews written about you
- Your Highlights posts and their statistics
- Your notifications, notification settings and profile visit records
- Your personalised suggestions, profiles you passed on and your block lists
- Reports you submitted and your deletion reason
- Your notification device tokens (Firebase Cloud Messaging; OneSignal record for older versions) and your records with our subscription management (RevenueCat) service providers
5. Data That May Remain
Content you shared with other users
- Messages you sent in group and event chats remain because they are part of the other members' chat history. Photos and voice messages shared in chats are already deleted 3 days after sending. You can also ask us to delete these messages at support@joindo.app.
- Past events you created and cancelled events remain in participants' event history.
- If a group you created has other members, the group is not deleted; ownership passes to the longest-standing admin, or otherwise to the longest-standing member. If there are no other members, the group is closed.
- Images of your own stickers that you sent in chats are not deleted automatically; you can ask us to delete them at support@joindo.app.
Records deleted after a set period or kept for legal reasons
- App usage events are deleted automatically after 180 days, and the record of days you used the app after 400 days; these records cannot be matched to your account.
- App Store and Google Play purchase records are held by Apple and Google under their own policies.
- Where a legal obligation or ongoing legal proceedings apply, the relevant records may be kept for as long as required; financial records are kept for the period required by law (up to 10 years).
6. Subscriptions
Deleting your account does not cancel your Premium subscription. Apple or Google take the payment, so you can only cancel through the store you bought it from; if you don't, the subscription keeps renewing even after your account is deleted. Cancel before deleting your account:
- iPhone: Settings → your name → Subscriptions → Join do → Cancel Subscription
- Android: Google Play Store → profile icon → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions → Join do → Cancel subscription
Refund requests are handled by Apple or Google.
7. Your Data Protection Rights
Under the GDPR (and the UK GDPR) and Türkiye's KVKK, alongside deletion you have the right to find out whether your data is processed and request a copy, have inaccurate data corrected, object to processing and receive your data in a portable format. Send your request to support@joindo.app; we reply within 30 days at the latest. You can also complain to your local supervisory authority (in the UK, the Information Commissioner's Office) or, in Türkiye, the Personal Data Protection Authority (kvkk.gov.tr). See our Privacy Policy for details.
